Purchasing or searching for the recordings of American Music
New World A label that specializes American music, old and new. Deals with various genres of music.
Composers Recordings Inc. The famous "CRI" Records, dealing with the 20th- and 21st-Century American serious music in various styles.
Delos International Gerard Schawarz's recordings of American orchestral works have been issued from this label.
Bay Cities Reissuing recordings originally created by American Recording Society, Desto, CRI, Everest, Columbia, etc.
Citadel Some reissues include the rearrangement of Bay Cites CDs with nicer jackets.
Albany They reissue the recordings by Desto and CRI LPs and have produced new recordings of little-heard American music.
Mode Records The John Cage Edition, Morton Feldman Edition, etc. as well as other experimental composers.
hatHUT A Swiss label that issues decent recordings of Feldman, Cage, and other avant-garde music.
New Albion John Adams, Cage, Daniel Lentz, Feldman, Rzewski etc.
Also for some "New Age" stuff.
Lovely Music, Ltd. Focusing on experimental music. Pauline Oliveros, Alvin Lucier, etc.
Bridge They started reissuing the "Music in America" series, created by the Society for the Preservation of American music. The CD used to be available only at libraries.
OO Discs Mostly experimental.  This company imports recordings of Yuji and Aki Takahashi on the Japanese Kojima label.
Crystal Records Reissues Hovhaness recordings previously released from the Poseidon Society. Also many woodwind/brass recordings.
Walking Frog Records
Smithsonian Folkways Recordings Mainly deals with national "folk" music, Native American music, and other world music.  But John Cage's "Indeterminacy" and Henry Cowell's Piano Works are available from them.
Rounder Records Mainly deals with national folk music and blues.  Very informative.
Pheonix Reissueing various 20th-century repartoire, including some American pieces.
VOX VoxBox series includes various "Americana" and modern American music.
Electronic Music Foundation For those who are interested in electronic music, computer music.
Pauline Oliveros Foundation Inc. Home Page Those who are interested in experimental music should check this site out. Of course, Oliveros materials are available.
FROG PEAK MUSIC (a composers' collective) Like the Pauline Oliveros Foundation, it puts many composers together to a nice catalogue.
